An ex-fashion model of the top class at 5'10'' in height, Carey was a favorite with high-end American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, a distinguished scientist who received the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a highly respected scientist. Carey was raised all over the planet as a consequence of her father's career. While in college, she began to model for a small amount of time and was able to attract the attention to Ford model Agency representatives in New York. After moving to France and briefly lived in Paris, Bordeaux and New York and then New York, she made the decision that she would return home to New York and continue her training. Soon, Vogue, Glamour and other magazines were featured on their cover. As she modeled, she continued to study at a full-time level for a literary major in New York University. In New York she began to learn about acting. She had a small part on Club Paradise with Robin Williams in 1986. She enjoys rock climbing ski, windsurfing, and skiing.
